Teachers in our center intentionally plan children's environments, materials, and activities in order to meet individual developmental needs.
Using the Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines and Teaching Strategies GOLD, our teachers are able to see what children are able to do and what we can do to scaffold their learning to the next level!
This preschooler demonstrated persistence by trying over and over again to cut the string. She sustained attention and focus on the cutting, before taking the string over to her paper and sticking it on with stickers.

Teachers also observed this child working on cognitive/executive functioning skills. Her attention and problem solving techniques can be seen as she works diligently to cut the string. Teachers note this child being able to focus on a detailed task, which will enhance her academic learning with the ability to focus and concentrate.
Mathematics was also a BIG observed event during this play activity. The preschooler told the teacher she needed 5 pieces, and was able to show her ability to count and state how many more are left to cut.

Knowing where a child is developmentally is critically important in planning for their learning and growth. Teachers observe children during play in order to see the development. Each child gets an individualized, intentionally planned day. Teachers work hard to make sure they are giving each child the appropriate materials to help encourage growth.
Areas of growth:
-fine motor skills
-confidence
-problem solving
-attention
-mathematics
-creativity
